Here are the approved minutes of the Community Council meeting on 4 November 2021
Attending: Tom Kinnaird, John Purdie, Brian Menzies, Brian De Placito, Jack Colquhoun
2 Chair Welcome – Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting. The Community Council noted the passing of Community Councillor Jim Christie, a much loved and valued member of the Benarty Community, and a minutes silence was observed. Note of anonymous inquiry received, and that the Community Council does not deal with them.
4 Apologies were given for Sharon Kinnaird, Debbie Doyle, Margaret Greer, Anne Hay, Sarah Jane Ratcliffe, Police Scotland, Fife Cllrs.
19 Declaration of Interests – No declarations were made
5 Minutes of the Previous Meetings – The minutes of previous meeting were read. They were proposed by John Purdie and seconded by Jack Colquhoun.
6 Matters Arising – Brian Menzies asked about the email to Sarah Roxburgh, and if there was a response. Not yet but would contact again with additional questions and also put information online. There was note about caravans and motorhomes at the meadows but the service was generally for single overnight stays, not multiple nights. After the recent events the area at the Meadows looked like a ploughed field. The subject of stake holders at the Meadows was raised and it was agreed to contact Fife Council on this matter and the questions unanswered.
There was an update from Debbie Doyle re the litter picking. Debbie had spoken to both primary deputy heads and various parties getting positive responses including the possibility of sponsorship, plus the possibility f including the forthcoming Scotland’s Deposit Return Scheme.
16 Armistice – It was noted that wreath had been bought and looking for someone to lay it on behalf of Benarty Community Council. Brian Menzies volunteered. Jack noted that the event still had covid restrictions in place.
7 Police Report – The Police were attending COP26 and had submitted their apologies
32 Schools Update – No School Report
9 Secretary Report – John gave information on planning applications and emails received. The Community Council decided to go ahead with the Citizen of the Year award although it was unlikely a presentation or ceremony would be able to take place.
8 Treasurer Report – Jack Colquhoun reported that there had been no change since the July statement, the only cheque to come off was the one agreed at a previous meeting.
12 Any other Competent Business – Brian de Placito asked about the recycle containers at the old primary school/centre in Navitie Park and who was in charge og them. Tom noted that the ground was private now and had been sold by Fife Council but there had not been any plans or notes submitted about what was to be done about the grounds, although plenty had been promised by the new owners. John Purdie asked about the crumbling wall in Martin Crescent near the playpark and it was noted that this should be in hand.
36 Micro Grants – No Micro grant applications had been received.
