Here are the approved minutes of the July meeting of Benarty Community Council
BENARTY COMMUNITY COUNCIL
THURSDAY 7 JULY 2022

Members of the public: Peter Keicher, Charlotte Howe CBE, Stephen Scott
2 Chair Welcome
Chair welcomed all to the meeting. The members of the public present had attended to join the community council and after introducing themselves and confirming they lived in the Benarty area and were on the voter roll the community council unanimously elected Peter Kiecher, Charlotte Howe CBE, and Stephen Scott onto the community council effective immediately.

19 Declaration of Interests
None made at the beginning of meeting, Charlotte Howe CBE and Brian Menzies declared an interest on letter from the Heritage Group when it was brought up in any other business and took no part in the discussion.
5 Minutes of the Previous Meetings
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. They were proposed as correct by Jack Colquhoun and seconded by Brian De Placito.
6 Matters Arising
Chair noted the Bells project and after discussion the Community Council agreed to contact the convener of the Cowdenbeath area committee to find out the progress of the project and see if it can be transferred if there is no movement on it. Charlotte Howe CBE also extended thanks from the Events group for the donation agreed at the last meeting. The Community Council also agreed to push the micro grants more publicly.
19 Procedural Decisions
There was in depth discussion on the procedural decisions and the way forward for the Community Council. The Community Council agreed to ask for views of any attending members of the public on all matters on the agenda and to take questions during Any other business. The Community Council agreed that reports, excluding the police report, should be delivered to Community Councillors one week prior to the meeting along with the draft agenda and draft minutes. The Community Council agreed to pursue a newsletter, involving schools, local businesses and the local community. The Community Council agreed to look into involving the local community, especially local youth, in various activities and competitions – such as local football competitions – but also to consult youth on their views and preferences. Changes to reports from Treasurer and Secretary were also agreed. The Community Council also agreed to look into a complaint to the bank re the changeover of signatories and online banking. It was also agreed to have refreshments at all meetings.
12 Any other Competent Business
John Purdie read out the letter from the Heritage Group received just prior to the meeting about the one page advert in the Heritage Group annual calendar. The Community Council agreed the normal £100.
36 Micro Grants
No applications were received.
Chair thanked everyone and closed the meeting, noting the next meeting of the Community Council would be on Thursday 1 September.
