BENARTY COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Minutes of the Meeting Thursday 6 October 2022
Present: Brian Menzies, Jack Colquhoun, Charlotte Howe, Debbie Doyle, John Purdie, Karen Hunter (member of the pubic), Stephen Nardone (member of the public) , Cllr Liewald, Cllr McLelland.
2 Chair Welcome
Chair welcomed all to the meeting.
4 Apologies

19 Declaration of Interests
Debbie Doyle made a declaration of interest in the Micro Grants item.
16 Armistice
Stephen Nardone gave information on this year’s event, returning after covid, and that provisional bookings had been made and provisional agreements made with people he had spoken to. Chair thanked Stephen Nardone for all the fine work he has done over the years for the Armistice in the Benarty area and Stephen said it was a matter particularly close to his heart, and that he would return to the next meeting with more details.

5 Minutes of the Previous Meetings
The minutes of the previous meeting were read. They were proposed as correct by Debbie Doyle and Seconded by Charlotte Howe.
6 Matters Arising
Debbie Doyle noted that the Community Council now encourages members of the public to attend.
7 Police
The Police report submitted by email was read out by the Chair.
17 Citizen of The Year
The Community Council agreed to start advertising and promoting the Citizen of the year award.
40 Reports
Reports were given, and updates to reports received, including the ongoing situation with online banking. The Community Council decided to reject the compensation and contact the Bank of Scotland again about the continuing situation. The Community Council decided on submitting a comment about the proposed 20mph zone at Kirkland Farm. The Community Council was also informed of the approximately £49,000 coming from the new build at Ballingry Road and how Beanrty would see very little of the money. Sarah Jane Ratcliffe gave apologies for the Head of St Kenneth’s who had hoped to attend a previous Community Council meeting but was unable to due to additional commitments. Sarah Jane also mentioned that there was to be a change of leadership with the Deputy Head leaving but it was felt that there was enough leadership and senior teachers at the school who could fill in until the vacancy was filled. Debbie Doyle gave an update on the Westfield meeting she attended, including the setting up of a community fund, and Charlotte Howe gave an update on the Newsletter, which was up and running and moving toward a first issue. The issue of payments for the newsletter was also discussed. The Cllrs gave reports including a new bus stop put in place on Ballingry Road while roadworks were happening and information available online with the cost of living
12 Open Forum, Any other Competent Business
No additional business was discussed.
36 Micro Grants
The Community Council agreed to award the grant to the Meedies Running Club.
