Benarty Community Council Meeting: Thursday 7 November 2024
Minutes of Meeting Held 3 October 2024
Present: Debbie Doyle (Secretary), Sarah Jane Ratcliffe, Stephen Scott, Davie Hynd (Chair), Cllr Linda Erskine.

Chair Welcome
The Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Declaration of interests
There were no declarations of interest.
Minutes of the October Meeting
The minutes of the previous meeting were read by everyone. They were proposed by Debbie Doyle and seconded by Stephen Scott.
Matters Arising
Sarah made note that she was unaware that there needed to be some inclusion of microgrants in the minutes, this will be rectified going forward. The traffic management issue about the two sets of crossing lights not operational had been followed up and an email had been sent, but as of that time no reply had been given. Cllr Erskine offered to pick this up. The settlement trust issue had also been looked at again, however no response had been received at that time.
Police Report
The police report had already been sent to members. Linda went into detail about her experience of bike issues flagged in the report, that is also having an effect on other local communities, this is thought to be because of lack of resources due to limited funding.
Reports
The Chairperson did not have a report to share.
The financial document was sent to members through email, Microgrant monies had been received.
No Benarty report was available this month. St Kenneths had had their AGM, and the current chair (Sarah Jane Ratcliffe) was staying in that role. They were planning their Halloween celebrations and had a Christmas Fayre planned for 23rd November, this was to raise funds for planning school trips which are not an academical requirement.
The Secretary noted that she had posted some items on the groups Facebook page with regards to a film being shown at Lochore Meadows and the availability of mental health funding. She also circulated a summary of the local transport strategy for Fife for members present to have a look at.
AOCB
Letters had dropped through doors recently about another proposed battery farm in the Westfield area. One member commented that they would be surprised if anything could be done about it going ahead, as it would be situated on private commercial land, and that having looked at their information website it seemed as if they had used our previous questions to ‘Jazz up’ their website. There was a consultation for members of the public arranged in Benarty Centre on 8th October 11am-3pm.
Mr Nardone attended tonight’s meeting to talk about the plans for Remembrance Sunday (10th November) The piper, organist and bugler had all been organised and the road closer was still to be finalised. A change of venue was organised this year as the bowling club was no longer available, so, the parade will start from Lochore institute at 2pm. Unfortunately, they were not able to secure the attendance of any Cadets. There would be a further ceremony to lay poppies at Ballingry cemetery on Monday 11th November which would also be attended by P7s of each school.
The Chair offered his thanks to those in attendance and closed the meeting.
Microgrants
Microgrants were discussed in private. There were 2 received (Benarty Arts Club & Benarty Improvement Group); both were approved by members
