Notes of meeting of Benarty Community Council held online, Thursday 03 February 2022
Chair Welcome
Chair welcomed all to the meeting.
Present: John Purdie, Tom Kinnaird, Brian De Placito, Brian Menzies, Jack Colquhoun, Debbie Doyle

Minutes of the Previous Meetings
Minutes were read. The minutes were proposed by Brian Menzies seconded by Jack Colquhoun
Matters Arising
It was noted on the subject of the Martin Crescent flats that the documents for the Cowdenbeath area committee included the demolition.
Police Report
No report was received.
Schools Update
Sarah Jane put in apologies but sent a short update. This was read out and placed on the web. Brian Menzies asked about the capacity of the schools Chair said Benarty Primary was currently around 58% but not aware of the St Kenneths figure.
Secretary Report
Outlined information, Brian Menzies mentioned he would like to attend the meeting organized by Alex Rowley MSP in Dunfermline in regard to play park areas for kids, and protecting open space.
Treasurer Report
No movement with account. Regarding online banking paperwork has been received but there is a period which the paperwork should be submitted and needs to be re registered. The Community Council will not be able to make any donations or issue payments until it is complete.
Councilor Reports
No Councillor reports received although Cllr Erskine had hoped to give an update on the walked routes to School with information that children in the Benarty area would not be disadvantaged.
Debbie Doyle joined the meeting.
Brian said that the new under 22 bus passes could be arranged through the schools. Suggested to ask the Cllrs about this.
Any other Competent Business
Debbie Doyle would like to request money for the Litter Picking, for hi viz jackets and asked about the best way to move forward with this. Debbie was also asking for sponsorship from local business for sponsorship on the high viz vests.
Debbie Doyle brought up the issue of the state of the roof at the Institute. And if the Community Council could make a donation or get the community groups to get together to help. Brian De Placitos said the community getting involved could be a good idea, with perhaps local talent getting together and all proceeds to the institute. Jack Colquhoun suggested a just giving page. Debbie Doyle said it would be good to get the local community groups together. Brian said Menzies said the institute is a very essential building for the community and part of our heritage. Agreed with Debbie Doyle of getting the groups together and going to someone with business acumen. The organising of a meeting at Brag with all the Benarty groups would be a good start. Chair mentioned that new houses were being built in New Flockhouse, just announced. The scheme at Marshall Place has been delayed due to drainage issues. The road plan shows money being spent in Benarty area. The path at Lochtyburn is classed as not urgent. Brian Menzies asked if there was a problem with the new houses in Glencraig? Chair noted there were a few problem with water and drainage at the area. The settlement boundary was discussed and noted that new laws were due.
Micro Grants
No micro grant applications were received the Community Council agreed to try and advertise it more. It was noted that the fund itself were looking at more advertising to let people know the money is there. However it was also noted that groups are still on hold.
