The Community Council has received correspondence from the office of Annabelle Ewing MSP informing us that a motion is to be put to the Scottish Parliament. The motion is below. Benarty Community Council wish to thank Annabelle Ewing MSP profusely for her ongoing support for and commitment to the Benarty Community, and to express our gratitude for bringing the Ann McCallum Citizen of the Year award to the notice of the Scottish Parliament and the wider public.
Title: Ann McCallum Citizen of the Year Award
Motion: That the Parliament notes that Benarty Community Council recently presented the Ann McCallum Citizen of the Year Award; congratulates Derek Davidson, from Lochore, on being named as Citizen of the Year for 2020; understands that Derek is known for his work in the creation of the Fairy Wood at Lochore Meadows, which, it understands gave families great joy during the COVID-19 pandemic; further understands that he recently organised a local Easter egg hunt, which saw over 2,000 Easter eggs distributed within the local community; congratulates Nikki Slater, from Ballingry, on being named as the Citizen of the Year for 2021; understands that Nikki is known for her hard work and dedication in making sure no child in the local area goes without parcels at Christmas time; further understands that she participates in the local Santa Benarty scheme by wrapping parcels gathered locally and from charities; commends the efforts of both to improve their local communities, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
